Vulture Ruined the Subway for John Slattery

When Vulture caught up with John Slattery at last night’s Roundabout Theater Gala, we obviously tried our best to get some hints about the upcoming Mad Men season. Those attempts were mostly unsuccessful: Slattery stayed tight-lipped about all things Roger Sterling, even in broad character terms. (His thoughts on Roger’s evolution: “I can’t tell you anything about that. That’s a secret! Although it’s hypothetical, it may or may not have something to do with the actual show. I cannot deny.”) But we did get to check in with Slattery about his transportation habits, and he had some harsh news for Vulture: We spoiled his commute. “You wrote that thing about me taking the subway,” he told us. (It’s true! We did.) “I can’t take the subway anymore. Thanks a lot. You’ve ruined it for me.” Vulture would like to take this opportunity to apologize to John Slattery and all the kind tourists who have been robbed of a Roger Sterling sighting on the 1, 2, or 3 train. Maybe Mrs. Blankenship is still haunting the F train?
