Chart Watch: Gotye Hangs On, With an Assist From James Franco

Since we have established that April is not too early, let us now mine this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart for possible Song of Summer clues. Your newest top ten contender is Maroon 5’s Wiz Khalifa–featuring “Payphone,” which hit No. 3 in its first week out; Fun., Justin Bieber, and the Wanted are all still hanging on in the top five (though “Glad You Came” slipped from No. 3 to No. 5), and Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” just hit a career peak at No. 7. But yes, Gotye and Kimbra’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” is still top dog, thanks, no doubt, to that crucial James Franco endorsement on Monday.  Can the Franco Effect last a whole summer?! We will find out.
