unnecessary remakes

Sabrina the Teenage Witch Getting a Live-Action Superhero Reboot

Sony Pictures is ready to both remind you of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and confuse the hell out of you if you think you remember Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The character introduced in the sixties via Archie comics (huh?!) and repopularized from 1996-2003 by Melissa Joan Hart’s TV show (alright, back onboard, definitely remember that one) is “being recast as a superhero” in a live-action reboot that’ll “be an origin story in the vein of Spider-Man, about a young girl coming to terms with her remarkable powers,” Deadline reports. It’ll also be “edgier” but still have Salem the smart-ass talking cat. Mean Girls and Freaky Friday helmer Mark Waters is in the mix and could potentially direct. Start your casting couch engines, folks, and don’t say Elle Fanning, ‘cause she’s wicked busy.
