Virginia Trailer: Dustin Lance Black’s Divisive Dramedy

Among the changes to Dustin Lance Black's Virginia since it debuted at the Toronto Film Festival in 2012 is the title: It used to be called What's Wrong With Virginia, but after the critical brickbats that came its way at the fest, you can see how Black (who won an Oscar for scripting Milk) would be reluctant to give headline writers such easy ammunition. Black says he's reedited the film since, and now there's a trailer for it, featuring Jennifer Connelly as an eccentric mom carrying on an affair with Ed Harris, a pious Mormon running for office by day and an S&M submissive in Connelly's bedroom by night. Eventually, Connelly decides to fake a pregnancy to expose the affair herself, but that's only one among many ill-advised schemes she concocts; we even see her donning a gorilla mask to rob a bank. As one does!
