HBO has picked up a new pilot directed, co-written, and starring multitalented Ricky Gervais collaborator Stephen Merchant (Extras). Hello Ladies will feature the exceptionally tall Merchant as an Englishman desperately trying to find a gorgeous mate in L.A. “Half as charming as he thinks he is — and twice as desperate — he’s obsessed with infiltrating the glamorous world of beautiful people,” Deadline writes. The show is being executive produced by The Office’s Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky.
