The recent movies that Julie Delpy has written and starred in — Two Days in Paris and Two Days in New York — share such a tone with Woody Allen that they sometimes seem to verge on fan fiction. So it’s only natural for her to just cut to the chase with her next screenplay and cast Allen himself in it. If he agrees, that is.
The movie, called Virgo Rising, is one that she’s been working on for years. She hasn’t formally offered him the part yet, but she says she wrote it with him in mind. She’d star alongside him, and it would shoot in New York City. She said that “It’s very funny. But I don’t know if I’ll do it. I don’t know if I’ll ever dare to offer him the part.” Dare to dream, Julie! According to IMDB the last movie he acted in that he didn’t also write and direct was Picking Up the Pieces in 2000, which didn’t do so well. But this sounds a lot more in his wheelhouse.
