Part of Tig Notaro’s Famous Largo Set Will be Broadcast on ‘This American Life’

Early this month, Tig Notaro performed a legendary set at Largo in Los Angeles. As an account from the night put it: “For the first half of her set, even though she was telling the story in perfect grace and humor, I couldn’t laugh. For the second half, for the first time in my life, as far as I can recall, I genuinely laughed and cried at the exact same time, bewildered at the tragedy and the remarkably calm, clever prism through which she assessed her terrible set of circumstances.” Louis C.K. and Bill Burr called it one of the best they’ve ever seen. The performance addressed her very trying year and her recent breast cancer diagnosis. Well, it seems like those who weren’t able to attend will get to share this experience with Tig as well, on a future episode This American Life. She told FastCo.Create:

“I wasn’t working it out thinking people were going to find out about it after the show that night. I just thought, ‘I’m going to work this material out, and let him know and myself know where the material is at this point. But it ended up going well enough that when I went home that night, I emailed Ira [Glass] and let him know that I might have the audio he wanted. So Ira said he is planning on taking about ten minutes of the material I sent him and putting it on an upcoming show in the next couple of months.”

This is great. Tig is great.
