The Reign of Carly Rae Jepsen Is Over

It was a glorious run, filled with parody videos and politician sing-alongs, but the inevitable has happened: "Call Me Maybe" is no longer the No. 1 song on the Billboard "Hot 100." That spot now belongs to Flo Rida's highly suggestive "Whistle," which vaulted over Ellie Goulding's late-surging "Lights" and is — for the moment — your default Song of Summer Dos. But it is not too late for a pop miracle, friends! So if you want to honor of the memory of "Call Me Maybe," in all its wonder and innocence, it is time to embrace Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," which is already breaking iTunes sales records and seems poised for a giant "Hot 100" debut next week. It's what Carly would want! (Seriously, Carly would kill to have that song. Someone get Max Martin on the phone for her, maybe.)
