It’s been more than a week since Oprah promised a “really, really get-down conversation with Rihanna,” and only a few days since we realized “get-down conversation” meant “intense Chris Brown discussion resulting in oceans of tears.” But Oprah’s Next Chapter saved the heaviest for last, with Sunday night’s full interview getting thick into the mires of actual love between the two. “We’re very, very close friends,” Rih tells O, post-cry. “We built a trust again and that’s it. We love each other and we probably always will. And that’s not anything that we’re gonna try to change. It’s not something you can shut off if you’ve ever been in love.” They’re not seeing each other, though they’ve “maintained a very close friendship ever since the restraining order’s been dropped.” And yes, when Rihanna sees young Christopher, “it’s awkward because I still love him.” In fact, she believes he was the love of her life. Okay. Good luck processing all that.
