Still sad that Wisteria Lane has seen its last catfight? (Well, at least until the Universal Studios set is rejiggered to be yet another fictional TV neighborhood.) Maybe this Vulture exclusive of a never-aired deleted scene from the final season will pull you out of the Desperate Housewives doldrums. It features the late great Kathryn Joosten/Mrs. Karen McCluskey doing what she did best (and won two Outstanding Guest Actress Emmys for) — giving one of the leading ladies of the lane a hard time for ultimately a good reason, like the cranky, witty mama bear she was. In this case, McCluskey forces Bree (Marcia Cross) to work with her ex-lawyer/lover (Scott Bakula) on her estate planning by threatening to “haunt [her] from the grave.” Considering Joosten, who could be counted on to enliven even the weakest episode, lost her battle with lung cancer at 72 just a few weeks after this was filmed, it makes you wish she could make good on her threat, if only for her to be able to create another memorable character. The scene, along with a few others and a blooper reel, are part of the bonus features found on Desperate Housewives: The Complete Eighth and Final Season DVD set, available Sept. 25.
