On Wednesday, José Angel Santana, who is already suing NYU for allegedly firing him because he dared to give James Franco a “D,” filed a lawsuit against the overachieving actor himself. The suit claims Franco defamed the former professor by saying in interviews that he skipped twelve of his fourteen directing classes because, “I didn’t feel like I needed to waste my time with a bad teacher.” Santana had some topical comebacks ready, telling the Post, “Whoever was in Clint Eastwood’s chair at the Republican National Convention was more present than Mr. Franco was in my classes.” The lesson here: If you’re the world’s most famous perpetual grad student, consider saving your critiques for RateMyProfessors.com.
