Record label TufAmerica is suing the Roc-A-Fella label in Manhattan federal court over claims that a sample of 1969 Eddie Bo song “Hook and Sling, Part 1” (which TufAmerica owns the rights to) was used inappropriately in several songs on Kanye West’s 2010 album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Billboard reports that although TufAmerica was paid $62,500 in license fees, it never authorized multiple usage of the sample, which appeared in “Who Will Survive in America?,” “Lost in the World,” and the music video for “Runaway.”
