It's a shame that The Details has been shelved by the Weinsteins for so long: After shelling out $7.5 million to take the black comedy to Sundance the January before last, the Weinsteins seemed to suffer buyer's remorse, and now the title is earmarked for a small on-demand premiere. Maybe, then, this new trailer (supposedly cut by director Jacob Estes himself) can help resurrect its chances, since it's certainly one of the best, weirdest teasers of the year. Of course, it would have to be, since the plot of The Details is so odd on its own: Tobey Maguire plays a philandering husband whose obsession with killing raccoons in his backyard pushes him to commit further infidelities and even, possibly, a murder. Soak up all the weirdness, including Laura Linney's balls-out comic performance, which we hope gets at least some recognition this year.
