Why would Michael Bay return to direct a fourth Transformers movie after wrapping up the trilogy with Transformers: Dark of the Moon? “I thought I was done,” admits Bay to HuffPo. “Then the ride came out [at Universal Studios Hollywood] and [there were] two-and-a-half-hour lines. And then you’re thinking, Oh my God, someone’s going to take this over. And you start doing a lot of soul-searching.” Then again, Bay (who gave the interview to HuffPo in order to promote a new Doritos contest, as you might have guessed) considers himself to be in good, franchise-mired company. “Why is [James] Cameron doing two more Avatar movies?” says Bay. “Why is Peter Jackson doing three more Hobbit movies that are in the same world as Lord of the Rings? When you have a franchise, it’s very hard to give it up.” We’ve noticed!
