Can't anyone give the knuckleball some respect? Baseball's slowest pitch is often treated as a joke — there are precious few living pitchers brave enough to make it their specialty — but the art of throwing weird finally gets its close-up in the fittingly titled new documentary Knuckleball!, directed by Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg (Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work). Knuckleball! follows Mets star pitcher R.A. Dickey and retired Red Sox icon Tim Wakefield through the 2011 season as they persist in throwing knuckleballs, despite the fact that even some of their team members think the style is a joke.
