The most remarkable aspect of the now-infamous "Off With Your Head!" Nicki Minaj Idol video — aside from the "Off with your head!" and an insult that sounded suspiciously like "troll" and the way Keith Urban just put his arms over his head and ducked — was that Mariah Carey more or less sat there, rolling her eyes and letting Nicki rant. Yeah, that did not last long. Today's View kicked off with an informational session from Barbara Walters, who "called Mariah this morning" (read: was patched through by Carey's PR team) to get Mimi's side of the story. According to Mariah, via Barbara, the most troubling aspect of Nicki's rant came not during the video but when Nicki walked off set and said, "If I had a gun, I would shoot this bitch." (TMZ published similar rumors yesterday, but Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe immediately denied it.) Walters also reports that Carey does not feel "comfortable emotionally" and has hired extra security as a result. Nicki, for her part, is going hammer on Twitter in response. Key quotes: "Hey yAll. Lets just say nicki said smthn about a gun. ppl will believe it cuz she's a black rapper. Lmao. I'll then hit up Barbara n milk it." And: "Barbara walters didn't reach out from our team barbz. I guess we're too dangerous. Don't shake if u don't wannA get shook!!!! LmAooooooooooo." And, most crucially: "#struggleface." She's still going!
