Werner Herzog Attached to Direct Adaptation of the School-Shooting Satire Vernon God Little

Director Werner Herzog of the television series "On Death Row" speaks during the Discover Networks portion of the 2012 Television Critics Association Press Tour at The Langham Huntington Hotel and Spa on January 13, 2012 in Pasadena, California.

Director Werner Herzog is of course known for his hilarious movies, like that rom-com he did about two albino crocodiles or his buddy comedy about a man and a bear. He'll bring this sensibility to his next directing project, the feature adaptation of DBC Pierre's Vernon God Little. The book focuses on a small-town teenager who's accused of being an accomplice after his best friend kills sixteen of their classmates in a school shooting. The book uses his story to take a satirical look at American culture and media. And if the movie comes out flat, Herzog can just add that famous narration of his. (Bavarian is the banana peel of accents.)
