ABC Cuts Episodes for Midseason Comedy ‘Family Tools’

ABC just shaved three episodes off of the order for its midseason sitcom Family Tools, Deadline reports. The show, which is set to premiere in spring alongside fellow midseason sitcom How to Live with Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life), is based on the British comedy White Van Man and stars Kyle Bornheimer as a guy who takes over his dad’s (J.K. Simmons) handyman business after he has a heart attack. Johnny Pemberton, Leah Remini, Edi Gathegi, and Danielle Nicolet also star. This is the second midseason show to have its episode order trimmed (after Fox’s Goodwin Games), but like the reasons behind that cut, the network is insisting it’s a scheduling decision and not one related to how the show turned out. It’s a bummer for the sitcom and the folks behind it, but still, it’s kind of fitting that this British-based show is getting a smaller, more Britishy episode order.
