Variety is reporting that the duo behind Safety Not Guaranteed, Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, have been hired by Disney to rewrite a remake of Flight of the Navigator, with Trevorrow being eyed to potentially direct. The 1986 film focused on a 12-year-old kid who disappears, only to return eight years later still the same age. Then there is a lot of fun stuff with an alien spacecraft that is shaped like a silver Nerf football. There are actually a few parallels to Safety Not Guaranteed. Maybe they'll get Aubrey Plaza to play a real deadpan alien.
