Modern Family’s 14-year-old Ariel Winter has had a restraining order against her mother since early October, stemming from claims of abuse. Winter’s older sister and fellow actress Shanelle Gray filed a guardianship petition in Los Angeles alleging Winter’s mother, Chrisoula Workman, committed “ongoing physical abuse (slapping, hitting, pushing) and emotional abuse (vile name-calling, personal insults about minor and minor’s weight, attempts to ‘sexualize’ minor, deprivation of food, etc.) for an extended period of time.” Winter has been in the temporary custody of her sister, with a court hearing scheduled for November 20. Workman’s word to People is that “it’s all untrue … I have my doctor’s letter that my daughter’s never been abused … I have stylists’ letters that she’s never been abused.” Law enforcement tells TMZ Winter’s sister was also removed from Workman’s care two decades ago, “based on similar abuse allegations.”
