Moonrise Kingdom Wins Best Feature at the Gotham Awards

Last night was the 22nd Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, and Moonrise Kingdom was the big winner, beating out other indie films like The Master and The Loneliest Planet for the Best Feature award. It’s a good sign for Moonrise moving forward, as the previous three winners — The Tree of LifeWinter’s Bone, and The Hurt Locker — went on to Best Picture nominations. Other winners from last night include Benh Zeitlin for Best Breakthrough Director for Beasts of the Southern WildYour Sister’s Sister for Best Ensemble Performance; Emayatzy Corinealdi for Best Breakthrough Actor/Actress for her role in Middle of Nowhere; How to Survive a Plague for Best Documentary; An Oversimplification of Her Beauty for Best Film Not Playing at Theater Near You; and Artifact for the Audience Award.
