Paul Thomas Anderson Wants to Make a Full-Blown Comedy

Director Paul Thomas Anderson speaks at "The Master" Press Conference during the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival at TIFF Bell Lightbox on September 8, 2012 in Toronto, Canada.

There is always a twinge of dark comedy in Paul Thomas Anderson's movies, but it seems like Mr. Maya Rudolph has a hankering to try his hand at a full-on laugh riot. When Moviehole asked him about making a comedy, he responded, "Soon hopefully. I have to write it. It sounds daunting." He continued: "I'd like to make a film like Airplane!. That never gets old. Or Ted. It was a big hit. Why? Because it’s great. Movies that are that big a hit are never fucking bad." Is he aware that Seth MacFarlane doesn't actually choose the Oscar nominations?
