Roger Ebert has been facing ongoing health problems the last few weeks, but 2012 remained a banner year for movie-reviewing for the 70-year-old critic. He wrote more than 300 reviews, his all-time most, and found 2012 both “one of the best recent years in cinema” and “unusually difficult to leave out many of the quote-unquote ‘best’ films in 11th place.” In his top ten: Argo, Life of Pi, Lincoln, End of Watch, Arbitrage, and Beasts of the Southern Wild.
