It’s been said that only about 30,000 people bought the Velvet Underground’s first album when it came out, but every single one of them started a band of his own. Likewise, only about 4.1 million viewers tuned in to the first season of Lena Dunham’s Girls, TV’s most polarizing show, this spring — but seemingly every single one of them started a backlash. Here, a few of the most memorable.
