Josh Brolin presented the NBR award for best actor to Silver Linings Playbook star Bradley Cooper last night, first treating the crowd to a story about Young Josh Brolin. The short version: He was a super-eager kid actor. The longer, more amazing version:
"I was doing my first movie, The Goonies, and reading a Stanislavski book, and I asked Spielberg if I could climb the walls of the Goonies cave crying because it reminded me of my mother's womb. I was sixteen. And he replied, 'Just do me favor — just act? Just read the script and do what the script tells you to do. Can you just do that?' To which I replied, 'Okay, well, but I was watching a James Dean movie the other day ... ' and my thought went on like that."
