Yesterday, Megan Ganz took to Reddit to announce that she will no longer write for Community: “For the last three years, the sum total of my contribution to this planet … could be described as follows: Community. Recently, I was offered a job writing for Modern Family, and although it's unclear what will happen with Community for the fifth season (or the sixth season, or the movie), I've decided to take this new position.” Ganz, who has written on the show since season two, was a writing-staff fan-favorite known for penning some of the show’s classic episodes: “Cooperative Calligraphy” (a.k.a. “The Bottle Episode”), “Intermediate Documentary Filmmaking” (the episode which parodied faux-documentary sitcoms like, ironically enough, Modern Family), and “Basic Lupine Urology” (a.k.a. “The Law & Order Episode"). Since it’s already been written, this won’t affect the upcoming fourth season; however, it’s not the best sign for the potential of a Community season beyond that. Still, we look forward to the episode of Modern Family in which Phil and Claire act like Ice-T and Richard Belzer.
