Deadline reports that Christian Bale is in talks to star in Everest, an action movie set on the mountain. The film will be directed by Baltasar Kormákur (The Deep, Contraband) and focus on the 1996 disaster in which three separate expeditions were hit by a storm that left eight dead. This is the second film currently in development titled Everest. The other is the Tom Hardy–starring film about Sir George Mallory’s twenties mission to be the first person to top the mountain — meaning Bale will be pitted against Hardy, like a real-life Dark Knight Rises.
