Though her exit was maybe not as voluntary as Joy Behar’s. “The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing,” a source tells Us Weekly. “People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed.” Update: ABC’s statement says that Hasselbeck “is a valued member of The View and has a long term contract,” which is a polite way of not mentioning a renewal. Deadline reports that the network is already looking for replacements.
Update No. 2: Barbara Walters denies the report, but says that whenever someone on the View makes the choice to leave, it’ll be fine by her.
