JT didn’t quite break 1 million, but he did almost go platinum in seven days, selling 968,000 copies of The 20/20 Experience. For comparison, FutureSex/LoveSounds debuted to 300,000 fewer copies back in 2006. 20/20 nabs the strongest album sales week since Taylor Swift’s Red arrived to the tune of 1.2 million records last autumn; it’s also the biggest week for a male artist since Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III in 2008. Timberlake now holds the third best-selling week for “a solo male singer (a.k.a.: non-rapper)” ever, only behind Usher and Garth Brooks.
