The Best Show on WFMU’s Fundraising Marathon Begins Tonight

The Best Show on WFMU, Tom Scharpling’s hilarious radio show/podcast, holds an annual pledge drive every March to keep the show and its independent, listener-supported station, WFMU, afloat. This year’s fundraising marathon, TomThon 2013, kicks off tonight at 9pm Eastern on WFMU and goes till midnight. You can listen live on WFMU.org or on the radio at 91.1 in New York or 90.1 in the Hudson Valley. Julie Klausner will be joining Scharpling in the studio tonight, and next Tuesday’s show will be the second part of the big pledge drive. To pledge, email your name, address, and amount to toms@wfmu.org during the show tonight. Here’s the prizes that are in store for you if you do your part to keep listener-supported WFMU and The Best Show on WFMU on the air for another year:

-$75 gets you a Gary the Squirrel 7”, rain poncho, buttons, and an exclusive AP Mike/Tom download.-$500 gets you a personal phone call from Tom Scharpling, who says he’s already regretting offering this option.-$1000 gets you a colored vinyl autographed copy of the Gary the Squirrel 7”.-The person who pledges the most by midnight (Eastern time) tonight gets a custom song recorded and written by John Vanderslice.-The person who pledges the most over the course of tonight and next Tuesday’s shows gets a custom Mountain Goats cover of a KISS song with their name incorporated into it.
