back from the dead

Veronica Mars Movie Actually, Really Happening [Update]

Veronica Mars was canceled more than five years ago, and yet the apparent appetite for all things Neptune has not died down. After years and years of chronic rumors and chitchat, creator Rob Thomas has launched a Kickstarter in the hopes of funding a Veronica Mars movie. Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, and Ryan Hansen even filmed a cute little video pleading for support! (They filmed it a year ago, in fact. These things take time.) Team Veronica is trying to raise $2 million on Kickstarter, with Warner Bros. onboard to cover the rest of the cost of distribution and promotion; the movie would shoot this summer and come out on various platforms in 2014. And what has become of everyone’s favorite teen detective? [Update: $2 million = raised. So quickly.]

Life has taken Veronica away from Neptune. In the years since spoiling Keith’s chances to be reelected sheriff, Veronica hasn’t taken a case. But something big is about to bring her back home and back to her calling. My goal is to include as many of your favorite characters as possible. It is, after all, time for Veronica’s 10-year high school reunion.

Is it maybe time to rewatch all of Veronica Mars? Yes, yes it is.
