And Here Is Obama’s Comment on the Jay-Z Cuba Trip

President Barack Obama speaks at the Denver Police Academy in Denver, Wednesday, April 3, 2013. Ratcheting up pressure for Congress to limit access to guns, Obama said that steps taken recently by Colorado to tighten its gun laws show "there doesn't have to be a conflict" between keeping citizens safe and protecting Second Amendment rights to gun ownership. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was very firm in his response to Jay-Z's "Open Letter" — "It's a song. The president did not communicate with Jay-Z over this trip" — but of course that did not stop Today's Savannah Guthrie from asking the president himself (in an interview taped before the Boston bombings). So here is Obama's official comment on the Cuba controversy: “I wasn’t familiar that they were taking the trip … You know, this is not something the White House was involved with. We've got better things to do.”
