Justin Bieber, who is set to perform an hour outside of Amsterdam tonight, paid tribute to a teen arguably more important than himself by stopping by the Anne Frank House on Saturday, according to the museum's Facebook page. Even though "fans were waiting outside to see a glimpse of him," Bieber and his friends and body guards reportedly spent over an hour in the rooms where the 15-year-old diarist and her family spent two years hiding from the Nazis. He even signed the guest book: "Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber." (Frank did famously write that, "I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart," so we guess it's possible.) Meanwhile, the visit has resulted in predictable outrage and mockery on Twitter, as well as a generous comment from the Anne Frank House's press office: "He's 19, it's a strange life he's living, it wasn't very sensible but he didn't mean bad." To be fair, that all sounds right to us.
