The trailer for The Conjuring seems to answer the question: How many times can something startlingly pop out toward the camera in a single trailer? It goes for four seconds with a character looking around, then blam!!!!!! One second of a scary thing, then another four seconds of looking, and another blam!!!!!! … and so on for 150 seconds. Surrounding these blams is the story of renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) inspecting a super-scary house in rural Rhode Island. James Wan (Saw/Insidious) directed this scarefest. The film opens on July 19 – go for the blams, stay for Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga playing a very attractive married couple.
