Billy Eichner’s Nighttime Show Gets Nominated for a Daytime Emmy

Billy Eichner, host of Fuse’s comedy game show Billy on the Street, received a much-deserved Emmy nomination yesterday. Eichner was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Game Show Host,” despite the fact that his show airs at night (the Primetime Emmys don’t have a category for game shows, so all game show people receive recognition by the Daytime Emmys). Billy on the Street, which is produced by Funny or Die, features Eichner ambushing New York pedestrians with silly trivia questions and challenges. In March, the series wrapped up its second season on cable network Fuse, featuring guest appearances from Will Ferrell, Maya Rudolph, Rashida Jones, and Zachary Quinto. Eichner’s competitors for the “Outstanding Game Show Host” Emmy are Ben Bailey (Cash Cab), Wayne Brady (Let’s Make a Deal), Steve Harvey (Family Feud), and Alex Trebek (you know this one). Expect Billy Eichner to make a big scene and be super funny at the Daytime Emmys ceremony (if the Daytime Emmys even have a ceremony).
