Cate Blanchett to Star in David Mamet’s JFK Thriller Blackbird

Cate Blanchett speaks with Sydney Theatre Company Artistic Director, Andrew Upton during the launch of 'Suncorp Twenties', a new theatre ticketing initiative on May 10, 2013 in Sydney, Australia.

Variety reports that Cate Blanchett has been cast to star in David Mamet’s Blackbird. Blanchett will play Janet, who, after attending the funeral of her Hollywood visual-effects artist grandfather, learns he used to work as a special-ops agent. The film is built around a theory about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Sing along: “Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn about the assassination of JFK.”
