Variety reports that Cate Blanchett has been cast to star in David Mamet’s Blackbird. Blanchett will play Janet, who, after attending the funeral of her Hollywood visual-effects artist grandfather, learns he used to work as a special-ops agent. The film is built around a theory about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Sing along: “Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn about the assassination of JFK.”
