Now You Can Hear Reese Witherspoon’s Husband Lecture Her in the Back of a Cop Car

In this booking photo provided by the City of Atlanta Department of Corrections, actress Reese Witherspoon, real name Laura Jeanne Witherspoon, poses in a booking photo on April 19, 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia. Witherspoon was charged with disorderly conduct after her husband, Jim Toth, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Close-watchers of the Reese Witherspoon arrest footage might have caught the moment — it's at the end of tape one, after the "I'm an American!" speech — when Jim Toth apologizes to the cop for his wife's behavior. (Alternate interpretation: He sold her out.) He didn't stop there; TMZ just released footage from the back of the cop car, and you can hear Toth explaining to Witherspoon how she made the whole situation worse. Reese, for her part, is still arguing about the cop's jurisdiction over "the ground he speaks on." Also in this tape: the crucial "My name is Reese Witherspoon ... and this will be on the national news" moment. One assumes she did not mean it so literally.
