In the flurry of series pickups and cancellations, comes news that NBC passed on John Mulaney’s highly anticipated pilot, Mulaney. If you listened to its hype, the Lorne Michaels–produced sitcom was going to be anything from the next 30 Rock to the next Seinfeld. The pilot co-starred Nasim Pedrad, Martin Short, and Elliott Gould. With the dust settling on Mulaney, now we can again talk about how he’d be the perfect fit to take over Weekend Update, if Seth Meyers does in fact end up taking over Late Night.
