Last night’s Awkward strained credulity on two fronts. One, there’s just no way Jenna would cheat on Matty. (Who would cheat on that handsome doofus? No one.) But more egregiously, this is not what text messages look like.
Come on, Awkward! You’re on MTV! You’re supposed to be hip and with it. It’s one thing when The Killing gets tech wrong, but you’re a show about a blog-happy teen. This is unacceptable.
Obviously some of the aesthetic fudging is for legibility’s sake. And if that’s the case, go Sherlock– or House of Cards–style and just show the message right on the screen. Problem solved.
