Songwriter Bonnie McKee’s Debut Is Full of Famous Friends

Bonnie McKee is calling in all the favors on this one, creating a lip-dub of her debut single, “American Girl,” featuring everyone from Jewel to Jewel’s horse (and Katy Perry, too!). Makes sense: McKee’s portfolio includes a lot of Perry’s catalogue (“California Girls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” and “Wide Awake”), as well as music from Britney Spears (“Hold It Against Me”), Ke$ha (“C’mon”), and a slew of other pop stars. Fingers crossed for McKee that this video achieves the “Call Me Maybe” Effect — if you recall, Carly Rae Jepsen’s smash started as a low-quality lip-dub by a group of equally famous friends that included Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Ashley Tisdale. If it doesn’t work out, at least we got to see Macklemore in a bathtub?
