The CW Developing Jane the Virgin

The CW is working on an American version of the popular Venezuelan telenovela Juana la Virgen, Deadline reports. Emily Owens MD creator Jennie Snyder Urman is adapting the series, currently called Jane the Virgin. The original show is about a 17-year-old girl, Juana, an aspiring photographer, who becomes pregnant when she’s accidentally artificially inseminated owing to hospital error. (Juana is a virgin at the time, though one imagines any instance of accidental insemination would be calamitous, no?) Come for the appalling medical errors, stay for a baby daddy, his jealous wife, a gym-teacher mom, a shady businessman, a magazine, and lots and lots of scheming.
