‘Freaks and Geeks’ Creator Paul Feig Wants to Go Back to TV

Paul Feig, the creator of Freaks and Geeks and an accomplished television director, became one of the most sought-after comedy directors in the feature film world in 2011 after his movie Bridesmaids became a huge success. His next film, the Sandra Bullock-Melissa McCarthy buddy cop comedy The Heat, is poised to be a big summer hit and to cement his reputation as a leading director in the movie industry, but he tells Collider that he’d like to return to TV in some capacity.

“I love doing movies, but TV’s in such an amazing place right now that I feel like it’d be crazy not to be back in it in some regard,” Feig explains. He added, “I’m definitely developing things for television right now. Yeah, I want to go between the two worlds … I like the challenge of movies so I want to concentrate on that, but I still love TV.” Maybe Paul Feig will start producing TV like his buddy and frequent collaborator Judd Apatow has done with HBO’s Girls. It should be pretty exciting to see what Feig cooks up in the TV world over the next couple years.
