In February, we told you that HBO was moving forward with Damon Lindelof’s adaptation of Tom Perrotta’s novel The Leftover, which tells the story of Earth after the Rapture, when all the people who didn’t go to heaven try to bring normalcy to life again. Well, HBO announced today that Justin Theroux has been cast to star in the Peter Berg–directed pilot for the show. He’ll play Kevin Garvey, a father and police chief who tries to prevent everyone from murdering each other as they realize they apparently aren’t going to heaven anyway. Good thing “Theroux” sounds like “thorough,” so he’ll probs do a good job keeping people safe.
