“Honestly, at this point, I could give a fuck about selling a million records,” Kanye West said during his Governors Ball performance a few weeks ago. And he got his wish, with Yeezus debuting to the tune of 327,000 copies, Kanye’s career low. It’s still the No. 1 album of the week, beating J. Cole’s sophomore effort Born Sinner (298,000 sold) and giving the best showing for a hip-hop record since Drake’s Take Care moved 631,000 copies in November 2011. Not too shabby a performance for a militantly non-radio-friendly project that still doesn’t have a single or a video.
