Composer JJ Cale Has Died

JJ Cale, a musician who, over the course of his career, penned hits for Eric Clapton, Santana, the Allman Brothers, Johnny Cash, and others, suffered a fatal heart attack Friday night at age 74. CNN reports that the singer-songwriter died at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California. Mike Kappus, the president of managing firm Rosebud Agency, called him "the most real and down-to-earth person we all knew," which is a fun way to think about the man who wrote "Cocaine" and "After Midnight."
