Lewis Black’s ‘Old Yeller’ Will Be the First Simulcast Pay-Per-View Standup Special

The Daily Show’s Lewis Black is trying something new with his next standup special, entitled Lewis Black: Old Yeller. Deadline reports that on Saturday, August 24th at 9:30pm ET, Lewis Black will perform the special to a live audience, and it’ll air simultaneously on pay-per-view cable, satellite, and telco platforms, making it the first standup special to debut this way. Outlets participating include Xfinity, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, DirecTV, Dish, Cablevision, Charter Communications, AT&T U-Verse and Verizon FiOS.

Black’s previous two specials, 2010’s Stark Raving Black and 2011’s In God We Rust, were released via the cable channel Epix with Stark Raving Black getting a small theatrical run. If this simulcast special is a hit for Lewis Black next month, look for more comedians to follow in his footsteps.
