Netflix has been vocal about its plan to up the original content to a much higher percentage. Now the company says it plans to bankroll and present stand-up comedy specials and "broadly appealing feature documentaries." The company doesn't see the need to pigeonhole itself as a destination exclusively for cable-style original series because "we’re fundamentally in the membership happiness business as opposed to the TV business." Chief content officer Ted Sarandos adds that the might consider expanding into original movies as well as news, talk, and sports programming.
