Peter Serafinowicz to Direct His First Movie Next Year

UK comedian Peter Serafinowicz, who you may know from his excellent series Look Around You (which he co-created) or from his role on Mitch Hurwitz’s Running Wilde, is getting ready to direct his first movie. Twitch reports that Serafinowicz is gearing up to make a dark comedy called I See What You Did There, which he co-wrote with Danny Wallace, who wrote the book the movie Yes Man was based on. The pair is finalizing the script before going out to financiers. Serafinowicz hopes to start shooting in 2014.

Serafinowicz talked about I See What You Did There last fall, revealing that it’s about a standup comedian who kills a heckler and that he plans on starring in the film. “I’m sort of writing it for myself,” he said. “When you’re an actor, I just hate waiting around for people to decide that they want me… everything takes 20 times longer than it does in television and 2,000 times longer than making something for the internet.” He added that the film is similar to Martin Scorsese’s 1983 film The King of Comedy, saying, “That is one of my favorite, favorite things. It owes a lot to that I think, but it’s got its own weird thing going.” Hopefully, Peter Serafinowicz is able to raise funding for the movie and gets it made as he’s proven with his excellent music videos that he’s more than ready to tackle a feature.
