Sharknado only scored 1.4 million viewers on its July 11 debut, which didn’t seem like too big of a deal since the Syfy original movie won the Internet so hard. Turns out the Internet-winning had its own value, pushing more viewers to watch the repeats than the premiere. Syfy’s second screening scored 1.9 million viewers, and Saturday night’s third showing reeled in 2.1 million. “That’s the most-watched encore for an original movie in Syfy history,” EW reports. Looks like Syfy was right to immediately green light that sequel after all.
